» Picard hails the commander of a terraforming
expedition. Five minutes later, he's finally managed to drag his
zimmer frame over to the screen to answer.
» Picard tries to wangle a visit to the
base, but the old man tries to fob him off. "I'm not trying
to be rude, sir, but piss off!"
» There are three men and one woman stationed
on the base. Wonder what the sleeping arrangements are...
» A six-feet-tall globe of the barren,
featureless planet. Money well spent...
» The chief engineer is called Bjorn!
Wouldn't it be ironic if he got assimilated by the Borg?
» The hydraulics engineer gets blasted
by a laser drill. It's Goldfinger in Space!
» Data reactivates the Evil Killer Drill,
and it immediately starts attacking him. And he's supposed to be
intelligent...
» Bjorn is really annoyed that Data destroyed
the drill. "You bastard! I'm calling Claims Direct!"
» Troi investigates the suspects' psychological
profiles. Just like Robbie Coltrane in Cracker, except she looks
better in a jumpsuit (well, marginally)
» Geordi sees colours, rhythms and harmonics.
Either he's found a new life form, or his Visor's on the blink again.
» And the alien of the week is...a glowing
bit of wire. Makes Doctor Who look like Star Wars, this...
» "I create life! I don't take it!"
Oh yeah? Where are all his kids, then?
» Riker calls on Louisa Kim (any relation
to Harry?) to help comfort her in her grief. Or, to put it another
way, take advantage of the situation.
» "It's very beautiful. I could
arrange for you to see it if you like." Is he still talking
about the lifeform?!
» The lifeform tries to communicate.
That, or it's just trying to find a decent station on the radio.
» "It's intelligent life."
"How do you know?" "It doesn't like Marmite."
» The new chief engineer looks like one
of the Golden Girls.
» "Ugly...giant bags of mostly water."
An accurate description of Troi, at least...
» The microbrain declares war on the
humans, and metamorphoses into a pink crystal. Ooh, scary...
» And all they need to do is turn down
the lights to have it begging for mercy. Not the most intimidating
of foes, it has to be said. But if it got together with some vampires,
they'd be unstoppable...
