THE THINGS WE LEARN:
» It ain't a sickbay, it's a zoo. Trying
to lure a certain exobiologist in perhaps?
» I don't know what was in this fishtank
but I wouldn't put my hand in it.
» Phlox eats his bat's food. Yuk.
» Puppy continuity: dairy products make
Porthos sick (awwww....)
» Trip is one big ol' sentimental wuss.
"Ah got somethin' in ma eye".
» I guess the girls won the right to
choose the film this time.
» Cutler has got an alien fetish. First
T'pol now Phlox. The devious wench.
» I suspected as much: Fear Of The Dentist
is common to all species. See how T'pol was in a hurry to leave
after Phlox told her she had tooth decay? "You must have more
pressing matters" Our T'Pol uttered this with a definite look
of panic in her eyes. <sniggers>
And on the same subject: one Vulcan indulged
in way too many Pecan pies. What else could ruin a Trifluorinate
compound, uh? The Pie Rules.
» The Ferengi visited the Valakian and
probably tried to sell them tube grubs.
» T'Pol's advice to Phlox: "Be careful".
I don't know about you, but it did seem a lot like the girl was
speaking from personal experience. Please let there be continuity
on this.
» Denobulan's mating rituals and extended
families seem both complicated and dangerous. I liked how it highlighted
Phlox's definitely alien nature. The guy is doing his best to fit
in, but he will always be an outsider, no matter how many religious
experience he gets (see Cold Front) or how fond of Human food he
is. There seems to be so much more to Phlox than meets the eye.
I suspect his optimist, cheerful nature is a well constructed facade
hiding a darker reality. In many ways T'Pol and him are much more
alike than it would first appear. Their approach to dealing with
humans is different, but it doesn't change the fact that both are
motivated by a set of values completely alien to the one shared
by the rest o the crew.
» So Archer is not as stubborn as Janeway
and he can change his mind despite what his gut's instinct tell
him. Well that's a shame, I liked when Janeway's pride got in the
way and fucked up things. I do hope that Archer won't always be
this reasonable or it'll be quickly boring.
» T'Pol and Archer have grown much more
comfortable around each other. They stand closer to one another
for one (I guess this nasal numbing agent is working) and listen
to each other a lot more.
» Archer finally realises how it feels
to be in Vulcan's shoes. I just loved the conversation between T'Pol
and Archer on the subject. I loved how T'Pol's"We're still
there" line did summarise in a nutshell the responsibility
attached to helping a less evolved species. And I especially liked
the fact that this line was delivered without any hint of haughty
Vulcan attitude. T'pol wasn't trying to assert her superiority here,
she was trying to make Archer understand the consequences his decision
would entail. These two are dealing more and more on an equal basis,
and I like the dynamic it creates between them.
» More "Forehead" aliens (yawns).
Oy! Creativity, people!
» Tick» tick? Hey, Cutler, is that
your biological clock ticking? Nope, it's the Menks saying thanks
for playing Guninea Pigs.
AWARDS
THE JANEWAY SKUNK EYE AWARD
Goes to T'Pol when the Valakian asks "You
two are not from the same planet?". Archer was very amused,
T'Pol was not.
"We may look alike but the similarities
end there." And she'll gouge your eyes out if you ever suggest
otherwise, boy!
THE DAX GOSSIP AWARD
Goes to Hoshi, what else should we expect from
a com officer? But ya got to practice your Denobulan girl!
THE WASHING LINE COUNT
Nothing. Not one underwear in sight, no gratuitous
decon' scenes, zilch, nada, not a sausage. I feel so cheated. Enterprise
without at least one member of crew in their undies is just not
Enterprise.
